SUPPORTING 23 LITTLE HEROES IN GHANA WITH THE GERALD ASAMOAH SOCIETY FOR CHILDREN WITH A CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT

Gerald Asamoah is a renowned German soccer player who suffers from a congenital heart defect. After his professional soccer career he has founded a society to support children with a congenital heart defect in third world countries and offer them a life-saving cardiac surgery. In 2023 the society executed do their first large mission in Ghana, Gerald’s home country. In only four days 23 little heroes could be successfully treated for a number of heart defects such as a PDA, a VSD and pulmonary stenosis at the University Medical Center in Accra. Abbott provided PDA occluders and financial support making this mission in Ghana a huge success.

Abbott is a proud partner of the society since 2016 and is grateful to support Gerald in giving children the life-saving surgery they need, enabling them to live their fullest lives and reaching their full potential.

Thanks to Abbott’s PDA-occluder Saad is healthy and looking forward to having an active and happy life with loads of laughs.

3 year old Kwame recovered very quickly after his PDA-closure and was ready to play, only a few hours after his intervention.

Bevelyn was successfully treated for her PDA and is really looking forward to go back to her two siblings.

Joana loves to go to school and her goal is to become a doctor so she can help ill children to get well.
