Chain of Hope team saving lives in Jamaica Children’s Heart Centre

Oct. 01, 2019

In 1996, Jamaica became the first beneficiary country of Chain of Hope. Since then, they have treated over 400 children with heart disease and have trained a team in Jamaica as part of a long-term goal of setting up a cardiac service for the local population. The cardiac unit is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment funded by Chain of Hope and other international partners.

In October, Chain of Hope’s volunteer medical team, led by Dr. Robert Yates from the Harley Street Clinic in London, worked together with the team at the Jamaica Children’s Heart Centre to help save the lives of children with life-threatening heart disease. Six children received urgent treatment on this mission and will now be able to breathe without struggling and play without getting tired. The life-saving devices were provided by Abbott.

Baby Kajeon was so happy after he received the urgent cardiac treatment he required.

Keon, who was treated by Dr Yates, was incredibly happy to receive this life-changing cardiac treatment, giving her a new chance in life.

Jovinique was a bit unsure prior to her procedure, but soon afterward she was on the mend and back to her happy self.

Orville had a quick recovery after his procedure to repair a complex heart condition.
